Halloween Costumes Out!

07/10/2008 08:47

YVL-Mari attended the Halloween costumes strike and release and came back with this report:

Around 9PM (Eastern Time) YoVille started freezing up and acting up really slow for many people. YoVille came back and NO SIGN of costumes.

Then someone ( KIWI) on the message board began getting people together for a protest. Many YoVillians met in front of the clothing store protesting they wanted the Halloween Costumes NOW! Pink Ninja showed up on a costume during the protest. She started asking ... "What is it that you want?" and the crowd would scream in big letters "HALLOWEEN COSTUMES NOW!!!" People outside and inside the store protesting.
After almost half hour of protest we begin seeing guys in the store dressed as pirates. The first costume to come out for sale for 1000 coins!
I'm almost sure my Tom was like the second or third guy who bought a Pirate costume. The girl costumes came out a few minutes later. The first costume came out at 10:15 PM (Eastern time)

It does say costumes will expire at the end of the month.

Costume price lists will be available soon on the Price Lists Page!

Keep your eye on the site to find out more about our Halloween activities.

HALOWEN COSTUMES..

I DON'T THINK IT IS RIGHT THAT WE LOSE OUR COSTUMES AT THE END OF THE MONTH. WE PAID FOR THEM WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP THEM. IT IS NO DIFFERENT THAN BUYING ANYTHING FROM ANY OTHER STORE. I DON'T THINK IT IS FAIR, WE PAID FOR IT WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP IT. IF THAT IS THE CASE YOU CAN TAKE ANYTHING OF OURS THAT WE BOUGHT. VERY UNHAPPY YOVILLIAN.....

Since there have been so many costume forum threads here are some answers to many of the questions/comments:

Do I lose my costume on Nov. 1? Yes you will be losing your costume after Nov. 1. We thought we stated this pretty clearly on the category description and in the message announcing them. We are sorry if people misunderstood. However, we may allow VIP to keep or buy costumes, but that hasn't been decided or developed- it's coming soon :-).

Why are costumes so expensive? Costumes actually are not that expensive. Many of the costumes are a lot of pieces but sold as one, so it makes sense for them to cost more. Also, the average YoVillian makes about 500 coins a day, and many make more with a litte more effort. We priced many costumes around 1000 coins (2 days of work). For people that actually want costumes this seems pretty fair.

Why are you ruining the game? This is always my favorite question when we change something. This time, we actually didn't change anything about how the rest of the game functioned. We added costumes. If you don't want to spend the coins to have a costume then the rest of the game is still exactly the same. We try really hard to listen to people. There were many forum threads begging for halloween costumes. We replied that we would make them. Next, there were forum threads about please let us have them longer than just halloween. We gave them to you for the whole month (well we were a little late).

We LOVE developing this game. Please appreciate that we all work very hard and do listen to your feedback, and we really do hope you can continue to enjoy the game.

Halloween Rip Off

After all the hype, what a total letdown. If YoVille Designers and Admins even read this, shame shame shame on all of you! With this kind of Scrooge like behavior, I can only imagine what things will be like over the holidays! I will copy and paste this same message on the YoVille group page. Bah HUMBUG!!!

Re: Halloween Rip Off

I think this is a big rip off since you can't keep the costumes you buy. if we buy them then we should be able to keep them, specially with the price you charge. rediculous if you ask me. RIP OFF!!! RIP OFF!!! RIP OFF!!!! 5000 coins to only be able to keep it for a couple of weeks, GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
